Wampum, Pa. –After allegedly shooting his father’s girlfriend, Jordan Brown, 11, put his gun away and boarded the school bus Friday morning and went to school.

Kenzie Marie Houk, 26, who was eight and a half months pregnant, was found dead in her bed of a gunshot wound to the back of her head. According to Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga, Houk’s baby died within minutes due to a lack of oxygen.

Investigators say Houk’s body was discovered by her 4 year old daughter. The little girl told some tree cutters on the property that she thought her mother was dead. Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Steve Ignatz said:

“Loggers were on the property here when they were contacted by the 4-year old resident of this house. The young girl asked for some help for her mother, these people in turn contacted Lawrence County EOC, who in turn contacted state police.”

Jack Houk, Kenzie’s father, said she had lived at the home for four months with her two daughters, her boyfriend, and her boyfriends son.

The police removed Jordan Brown and Houk’s seven year old daughter from school. Police say after interviewing Jordan Brown they noticed his story didn’t add up and it began to unravel. Investigators say that Houk’s seven year old daughter didn’t witness the killing, but she told them that she saw Jordan with his gun and heard a bang. It is not believed that she knew what was going on.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday morning the state police took Jordan Brown in custody. He is being held in the county jail, and being chaged as an adult with the homicides of Kenzie Houk and her unborn son.

Christopher Brown, father of Jordan and boyfriend of Houk, was at work at the time of shooting. He is described as being distraught and baffled by the murders.

Brown’s attorney has said that he plans on trying to get the boy released on bail and to get him charged as a juvenile.

National Institutes of Health: $10 billion in the final bill. The House proposed $3.5 billion and the Senate asked for $10 billion.

High-speed and inner-city rail: $8 billion in final version. Theres also a $6.9 billion provision for public transit. Good for them, bad for the automotive industry.

Amtrak: 1.3 billion. No more than 60% to the Northeast corridor.

NASA:$2 billion, including $400,000 for science toward global-warming research. Should have given twice as much to NASA.

Government oversight:Board to oversee stimulus bill spending will get $84 million. The house bill allocated $14 million while the Senate bill called for $7 million. There is also more than $100 million more for various inspectors general in different agencies. What qualifications will I need to get this gig?

Homebuyers: 6.63 Billion. First-time homebuyers who purchase this calendar year get an $8,000 tax credit which does not have to be repaid. Now if I can just get a loan…

Tax credits: $13.9 billion over 10 years. Anyone who earns less than $80,000 or families making less than $160,000 can get up to $2,500 in tax credits for college tuition. 40% ($1,000) of the credit is refundable. I’m listening.

Tax credits: Anyone who earns $75,000 individually or $150,000 as a family will get refundable tax credit up to $400 per person or $800 per family. Good, so I make good money so I get rewarded for it?

Car buyers: $1.7 billion. Anyone who purchases a new car in 2009 gets to deduct the sales tax. To qualify, buyer must make less than $125,000 individually or $250,000 jointly. “Honey, lets buy a new car this year, we can deduct the sales tax!” “Nah, lets just take the bus”

Without one single vote of republican support, newly elected President Barack Obama won House approval on Wednesday for the $819 billion economic recovery plan.

All but 11 Democrats voted for the plan and 177 Republicans voted against it. The 244-188 vote came a day after Obama traveled to Capitol Hill to seek Republican backing.

Approval of the bill is a victory for President Barack Obama and comes only eight days after his inauguration. It is the swiftest passage of such a massive package in American history.

Millions of American’s are in Washington D.C. and thousands are already crowded into the National Mall to experience the historical moment of Barack Obama becoming the nations first African-American president.

The mood is jubilant; many are dancing and singing. American flags are being passed out for free and being waved. There is a sense of expectation and jubilation.

Huge screens are mounted in the National Mall so everyone will be able to see the inauguration. A record number of people are expected.

Joe Biden is not even in office yet and his wife, Jill, is already getting him in trouble. The Biden’s made a spur of the moment surprise visit on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” today, which was filmed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Jill Biden inadvertently slipped up when she stated:

“Joe had the choice to be Secretary of State or Vice President and I said Joe……………well, OK he did.”

Joe Biden had tried to shush her up halfway through her comment but it was too late and the cat was out of the bag. The audience loved it and hooted with laughter.

But who could be angry at Jill Biden? She looked so cute and charming as she was obviously embarrassed when she realized she had spilled the beans. But to give Jill credit, she never backed down. It appears that the next four years might be interesting in the White House.

Oprah coaxed Jill to finish what she had been about to say when she had realized her slip up. Joe Biden gave her the go ahead to finish up. Jill finished:

“I said Joe, If you’re Secretary of State, you’ll be away, we’ll never see you, you know. I’ll see you at a state dinner once in awhile.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton accepted the position in November as Secretary of State. Clinton spokesman declined to comment on whether Clinton was runner-up for Secretary of State.

After “The Oprah Winfrey Show” aired on television later in the day Biden spokeswoman, Elizabet Arden, emailed reporters stating:

“To be clear, President-elect Obama offered Vice President-elect Biden one job only-to be his running mate, and the Vice President-elect was thrilled to accept the offer.”

Here’s the clip from the show:

Like another great man before him, President-elect Barack Obama and his family, boarded a vintage rail car to follow the same path that Abraham Lincoln took to Washington D.C. inaugural festivities some 148 years ago. Obama’s rail car was connected to the back of an Amtrack train. The Amtrack train was occupied with invited guests, reporters and staff.

Before boarding the train in Philadelphia Mr. Obama wowed the crowd with a spectacular speech. While talking about the future of our country he also talked about our historic past. He used phrases from Lincoln’s inaugural address. He also peppered his speech with phrases that were often used by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy as well as the founding fathers of our country. Obama said:

“We recognize that such enormous challenges will not be solved quickly, there will be false starts and setbacks, frustrations and disappointments. I will make some mistakes, and we will be called to show patience even as we act with fierce urgency.”

The Amtrack train left at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday from the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. It stopped in Wilmington, Delaware where Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill boarded.

At each stop during the trip Obama took advantage of the stop to speak of history. In Philadelphia he talked about gaining our freedom from Britain. In Wilmington, he acknowledged Delaware as the state that first ratified the Constitution. In Baltimore he praised the troops at Fort McHenry for holding off the British troops.

Thousands of people braved the cold and lined the train tracks along the 137 mile trip. Some in small groups and some in large groups. Some at railway stations and some in corn fields, all hoping to catch a glimpse of the Obama’s on their historic journey.

The train arrived in Washington D.C. at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening. The arrival kicks off a series of celebrations leading up to the inauguration on Tuesday.
